101 of Wall Art - Part 2 Gallery Wall

You've made the important decisions about the type of art and frames in our previous post.

Fantastic! If you're planning to display multiple pieces of art, here are some crucial considerations:

#1 Start with the frames

Starting with the frame you can either choose one frame size for all pictures, or select (at least three) different frame sizes. Make sure to also rotate some of the frames for a balanced result.

A good distance is 5-10 centimeters space between the pictures.

#2 Pick a layout

Whether you're designing a whole gallery wall or a small collection, selecting a hanging layout is essential. There are numerous patterns available on platforms like Pinterest. Pick one and stick to it for a harmonious result.

#3 Visualize

Lay the pictures on the floor in front of the chosen wall and experiment with different arrangements until you find one that resonates with you.

Alternatively, you can use paper-cuts in the desired sizes to create a mock gallery directly on the wall, allowing you to visualize the final look.

#4 Who's your protagonist?

Struggling to get started?

Choose a protagonist! Begin with your favorite piece of art as the focal point. This can help establish a cohesive theme or color palette for your gallery wall.

Check out Lilian Szalai Art Galerie for this beautiful piece.

#5 Stay flexible

Commitment issues?

Use a picture ledge for the ultimate design flexibility. It allows you to swap out the designs any time you want.
